How To Tell If a Pineapple Is Ripe

Check the pineapple's skin for a golden yellow hue. A ripe pineapple will have a vibrant and uniform color.

Gently press the pineapple's skin. It should have a slight give but not feel mushy, indicating perfect ripeness.

Inspect the crown leaves. Fresh, green leaves suggest a ripe pineapple, while brown or wilted ones indicate it’s past its prime.

Smell the bottom of the pineapple. A sweet, fruity aroma signals it’s ripe and ready to eat.

Pick up the pineapple. A heavier fruit means more juice and a higher chance of being ripe and flavorful.

Try pulling a leaf from the crown. If it comes out easily, the pineapple is likely ripe. Hard-to-remove leaves mean it isn’t ready.
